Culture

There is a wide variety of sites for culture lovers. The world-famous monasteries of Alcobaça, Batalha and the pilgrim site Fatima are beautiful day trips. You can step in the footsteps of the Knights of the Templar in Tomar or you can walk on the old walls of the medieval city of Obidos.

The markets of Santana and Alcobaça are typical Portuguese markets.

What does the Costa de Prata have to offer?

Beaches

From the surfing beaches of Nazaré to the child-friendly beaches of São Martinho do Porto and Foz do Arelho, there is a beach for everyone. You will also find secluded beaches where - even in high season - you can be on your own.

Hikes

From Casas do Carvalho you have a beautiful view of the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros, a protected natural park where you can enjoy beautiful marked hikes. You can also find the large stalactite caves of Mira d'Aire and Moedas in the Serras. Along the coast you can make breath-taking hikes with a fantastic view of the Atlantic Ocean.

Lisbon

The old centre of the city of Lisbon is definitely worth a day-visit. You can reach this cultural capital in just over an hour’s journey by car or by bus from Alcobaça.

Gastronomy

The Portuguese kitchen is simple and straight forward. The Portuguese prepare their meals with seasonal vegetables and regional products. In the area you find typical Portuguese restaurants with Portuguese prices.
